Privacy & data

Taxtimate currently runs as a preliminary 2026 tax estimator. No account is required, and the estimator does not file or transmit a tax return to the IRS or a state tax agency.

What the current estimator does not collect

What the current estimator stores

Taxtimate stores the tax facts needed to calculate the estimate, such as date of birth, filing status, income, deductions, credits, dependents, supported-state answers, and related tax inputs. A random anonymous browser-session cookie links this browser to the temporary estimate.

The session cookie is HttpOnly and SameSite-protected. On a production site served over HTTPS, it is also marked Secure.

How estimate data is handled

This estimator uses a temporary anonymous browser session. Refreshing the main estimator clears the active estimate and starts a fresh session. Moving between Taxtimate sections normally does not clear your work.

You can also delete the current estimate directly from this page. Automatic cleanup removes estimates that have been inactive for more than 24 hours. Cleanup runs every six hours, so deletion normally happens within about 30 hours of inactivity.

If you contact Taxtimate by email

You can voluntarily email [email protected] for website help or feedback. The message includes your sender address, message contents and any attachments you send. These are received and stored through Gmail separately from the anonymous estimator.

The estimator’s refresh deletion and automatic inactivity cleanup do not delete support emails. Please do not send Social Security or ITIN numbers, tax forms, passwords, banking details or complete tax records. Use fictional examples and remove personal details from screenshots.

For a question about a support message you sent, including a request to remove it, contact the same address. Gmail also processes email under Google’s Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab).

Future printable tax returns

Taxtimate plans to add preparation of printable 2026 federal and supported-state tax forms after final IRS and state forms, instructions, and guidance are available and Taxtimate has completed final validation of the form mappings and calculations.

That future return-preparation feature will require information that the current estimator does not collect, such as a legal name, Social Security number or ITIN, mailing address, and other information required on the official tax return.

Before that feature is enabled, Taxtimate will update its privacy notice to explain the additional information collected, why it is needed, how it is protected, and how long it is retained.

Printable return preparation is different from e-file. Taxtimate does not currently submit or transmit returns to the IRS or state agencies.

Current estimator boundaries

The current estimator has no third-party advertising or analytics integration. It is a preliminary tax-estimate product, not an e-file service or an official tax-return filing system.
